tampaguy28 created the topic: Help with bringing an outside model into the game
Hello all,
I have been playing the game for years now. I was excited to see all the modding developments. I have been using blenders and the editor for quite some time. I am interested in bringing models I have made in Blender into the game.
I have Gleem's scripts running functionally and properly.
However, I am running into trouble.
When I try to export a model from Blender, in this example, I have a model from Assassin's Creed..Python has an error. Now, I have tried it out with some mods from this site (ex. clone commander) and I was able to export properly.
My question is..
Does anyone else have this problem? if so, what can I do to fix it and get the model to run properly into the movies editor? the file will extract as a msh file but it won't do it properly. It will be a small 20 kb file and can't be opened.
Many thanks and I hope can contribute to the community!

Hello tampaguy28,

did you also try to use the scrips from msaeluk ?

What vesion of Blender do you use?

What kind of mod will you make -> a static prop or a character?

Hey Fraas,
Yep, I have tried msaeulk's scripts and they work the same.
I have 2 versions of Blender installed..I have:
-2.67
&
2.49
when I try to import the mesh into The Movies editor, I get the following errors:
-selected file is either invalid or is corrupt
-Mesh contains an invalid texture: all mesh textures must be DDS (which I did covert all the textures into the DDS..I tried twice..using dotnet and gimp)

thanks!

ok good news! I managed to get the model in (apparently the model I was using was not compatible for some reason and I was able to extract a different one)
my problem now is..that when I bring the model into the editor, the textures do not work properly. For example, I have the model with the textures..but say that the entire body assimilates a single texture (ex. the entire body looks white since it took the pattern of the hood).
Is there a tutorial for this? I cannot find any tutorials online for it? thank you

Adding textures with Blender isn`t very easy...

Perhaps this tutorial could be helpfull for you?

Did you first try to get a "simple" model into TheMovies (like a cube) before you try to get a more complex model into the game?

Well, good news and bad news.
I learned how to texture my model on Blender and get it into the Movies Editor.
Here is a screen shot:

However, when I try to select the costume in the game..it crashes. Any suggestions?
thanks again

Great work! I think you will finish your mod very soon. ;)

Try this tutorial and follow the steps as seen on the pictures. Perhaps you can translate the german tutorial with google translator if the pictures won't help.

Here is a video-tutorial how to get a model from an other game into TheMovies. This tutorial is also a german tutorial. But perhaps the shown pictures will help you. (Sorry for this late hint)

thanks for the tutorials!
Unfortunately, I have windows 7 and it gives me trouble when it comes to running Direct X 9 files so I need to work around it to run the application.

Try to use the Windows XP Mode in Windows 7: Tutorial

Your mod won't work if you don't use the mashmanip.

so I pulled out my old laptop that has Windows Vista and got the program running.
I followed the tutorial and it did not work.
As you can tell from the screenshot..the bones are there but some reason..they are..facing a different direction and they are VERY VERY tiny.
What do you think?
